1969 – 1990
Foundation and early energy systems expertise
Founded as SEG in Krefeld, Germany, the company initially produced switchgears, electronic protection devices, and genset controls. Years of business development led to the merger of AVK and SEG, forming AVK SEG Holding GmbH & Co. During this period, the company launched UPS rotating systems and NP unit control solutions, building a foundation in industrial power and energy systems.1995 –1999
Entering wind energy and offshore projects
SEG entered the wind energy industry in 1995, delivering its first converter system for Sudwind 600kW turbines in 1997. By 1999, the company completed its first offshore installation and began providing comprehensive frequency converter services. This period marked the start of global expansion into key wind energy markets across Asia, the Americas, and Europe.2006 – 2019
Further development and worldwide expansion
Acquisitions by Woodward in 2006 and IDS Integral Drive Systems AG in 2011 strengthened our expertise in renewable energy, PV, storage, and drive systems. During this period, we expanded product development, delivered full-size converters, launched industrial panels, introduced the service stack, and upgraded CSC4, reinforcing our leadership in wind energy technology.2020
Acquisition by Aurelius Group
Under Aurelius Group, ConverterTec refocused on converter production and service excellence. This new chapter established higher standards in operational reliability and business performance, addressing growing service and aftermarket demands across the wind energy sector.2021 – 2022
Expanding technical services and strategic operations
ConverterTec Service GmbH was founded to enhance technical services and customer support. While in Poland, ConverterTec Poland Sp. z o.o., with a new office, production site in Brzegi and under a new ConverterTec Poland brand, enabled build-to-spec and build-to-print projects. These strategic decisions strengthened our capabilities in offshore and onshore sectors.2023 – 2024
Innovative services and global footprint
ConverterTec launched new Service Stacks, Flexi|X, and advanced condition monitoring (CMS) hardware, boosting service performance and monitoring options. A new facility in Bulgaria now combines in-house spare parts production with a specialized repair center, ensuring faster support and better supply security. A strategic partnership with ENA Electronics in Canada further expanded our North American service network. ConverterTec Poland has started its Baltic Power project preparations.2025 & beyond

ConverterTec continues to grow as one company with two strong business units:ConverterTec Aftermarket & Service – repair solutions and spare parts for converters from multiple manufacturers.
