Poland’s first offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea represents a major step forward in the country’s shift toward low-carbon energy. With more than 1.1 GW of total capacity and 76 turbines rated at 15 MW each, the project will have the capability to power over 1.5 million households. ConverterTec OEM contributes as a supplier of critical components developed over four years of engineering, testing and validation.

A next-generation offshore wind farm

The project brings together both Polish and international partners. The turbines used are among the largest in the world, with each unit capable of supplying a medium-sized city of around 60–70 thousand residents.

ConverterTec OEM’s contribution – engineering built for the Baltic

ConverterTec OEM is responsible for the engineering, production and delivery of control panels that ensure stable and safe turbine operation in harsh offshore environments. The solutions were designed and tested to meet strict requirements in terms of:

This technology is the result of a four-year process involving extensive analyses, tests and iterative design work. The components are built to support a projected 30-year operational lifetime of the wind farm.

Polish technology and infrastructure

The project also draws strongly on local Polish capabilities:

Strategic impact on Poland’s energy transition

The wind farm will be capable of generating around 4 TWh of electricity per year, equal to roughly 3% of national power demand and sufficient for more than 1.5 million households. Some of the turbine towers are produced from recycled steel, lowering the carbon footprint of the structures by about 10%.

The project strengthens the Polish industrial supply chain, supports the development of a high-value offshore sector and lays the groundwork for future multi-gigawatt investments in the Baltic Sea.

Engineering that drives the future

ConverterTec OEM’s role in the installation of the first nacelles and turbines highlights the company’s proven expertise in delivering robust and innovative technologies. The project confirms that strong local content can be a genuine pillar of the region’s energy transition.
