Category Manager
Position purpose
As a Category Manager, you will drive strategic sourcing and category management for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components by developing effective supplier strategies, optimizing the supplier base, and leading cross-functional initiatives. The role ensures cost efficiency, quality, and supply continuity through strong market insight, supplier relationship management, and data-driven decision-making, while aligning procurement activities with overall business and project objectives.
Your Tasks
- Develop and implement product group and supplier strategies for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, leveraging strong market knowledge and applying it effectively.
- Align category strategies with project teams, supply chain functions, and overall business requirements.
- Lead supplier relationship management to ensure long-term value and performance.
- Optimize the supplier base to improve efficiency, quality, and cost competitiveness.
- Analyze categories to identify and drive cost-reduction initiatives
- Conduct price and contract negotiations, ensuring appropriate stakeholder involvement throughout the contracting process.
- Initiate and lead complex, cross-functional projects, applying advanced project management skills (including risk management and financial modeling), e.g., cost optimization programs.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing reports for the assigned material group.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 7–10 years of proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong market knowledge and commercial awareness.
- Solid understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Analytical mindset combined with strategic thinking capabilities.
- Proven project management skills, particularly in supply chain projects (including risk management, supply chain tools, and financial modeling).
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Fluent in business English (C1/C2 level).
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (especially Excel, PowerPoint).
- Technical and commercial knowledge with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
